Ralph E. Fossen

Ralph Edwin Fossen of Carnation, WA, peacefully passed away at home on November 4, 2018.

Ralph was born in Mexicali, Mexico on January 8, 1964. His family lived in Calexico, CA and Canaan, VT before moving to Oroville, WA where he graduated from Oroville High School. After high school, Ralph served in the US Army for 2 years at Fort Sill, OK. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff where he met his future wife, Jo. After graduation, he worked as a Process Engineer at Motorola's Semiconductor Division in Chandler, AZ for two years.

In 1992, Ralph moved to the Seattle, WA area to be with Jo. They married in 1994 and rooted themselves in Carnation, WA after buying their home. 

He was an Electrical Engineer at The Boeing Company for 22 years supporting many airplane programs. Ralph enjoyed his work in the Electrical Systems Group with Proximity Sensing Systems and Electrical Power Systems. His responsibilities included: being a Lead Engineer, an FAA Authorized Representative, and mentor.

Ralph lived a good life. He enjoyed the outdoors, soccer, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife (Jo), his children (Nina and Dominic), his parents (Gary and Gloria), his brother (Mike, and his wife Desiree), and his sister (Elizabeth, and her family).

A veteran’s memorial service will be held on November 15, 2018 at 2:30pm at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Followed by a celebration of Ralph’s life at 5pm at Heritage Hall in Kirkland, WA.
