We Remember
Darian Neely
Darian Alexander Neely beloved son of Scott and Amy Neely and Brother of Hayden Neely. Grandson of Lee and Jim Berry. He is embraced by his grandparents Jim and Mayone Neely who preceded him into the next phase of his journey. Nephew and Cousin of Shannon, Eric, Chloe and Cole Larsen; Jeff, Donna, Cal and Trevor Neely; Sophie, Kirk, Drew and Sam Harris; Alex, Heather, Arisa and Eliot Berry. Friend to so many of you here today.
Darian was an old soul. Just looking at his photo you see a young man who saw people with his heart as much as with his eyes. He had a gentleness and acceptance of others that you felt in every encounter with him. He did not discriminate when it came to his altruism- it didn’t matter what you looked like, where you lived, or what you were interested in you were welcome in his world. This is a characteristic common on both sides of Darian’s family.
Darian was incredibly intelligent. He excelled early on without studying and loved his days with friends at Enatai Elementary, Chinook Middle School, and Bellevue High School. He ultimately found the structure of public school confining and furthered his studies through Privett Academy.
Growing up he was an athlete, participating in all kinds of organized sports. As he grew, he took his athleticism off the field by water skiing, wake boarding, and skateboarding.
Music was ultimately Darian’s true passion. What he couldn’t express in words he expressed with raw and beautiful eloquence by producing original music and remixing songs. His genius enabled him to learn to play songs on both piano and drums without ever having seen sheet music. The time that some others might spend on-line each day - six hours or more - Darian would spend working on his craft. His dedication for music inspired other to look deeper into the emotional meaning of every note and melody of every song or composition they heard. Darian would compose intricate productions that reflected the patterns he saw all around him and that touched him so deeply. He had been planning on formalizing his training in music production through the ICON Collective Production School, in Burbank, California.
Darian’s music handle was: slik, His productions and mixes can be enjoyed on Soundcloud; https://soundcloud.com/officialslik. Darian can be honored by donations to: The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention https://afsp.org/
It is impossible to express the extent of our gratitude to everyone who has provided support to the Neely Family this past week. We are humbled by your generosity, love and compassion during this difficult time.
